Chael Sonnen's camp has finally broken their silence somewhat after the news broke that Sonnen had failed his pre-UFC 117 drug test for performance enhancing drugs.
Ariel Helwani at MMAFighting.com reports that Sonnen will appeal the failed drug test with the California State Athletic Commission and will release an official statement soon.
Sonnen's manager, Mike Roberts, told Helwani, "It is our policy not to comment on pending actions by the Athletic Commission. Chael is consulting with his legal advisors and physicians and will have a statement in the near future. Chael will an appeal with the CSAC and looks forward to working with the Commission to resolve this matter."
Sonnen's appeal will likely be heard at the CSAC's December 2 meeting, and if he's successful in reducing the suspension currently imposed on him until Sept. 2, 2011, his bout with Anderson Silva may yet take place.
